Free FTP Client

Last November, I recommended a free FTP server software package called FileZilla Server. A companion program to this is the FileZilla FTP client which is also free.

Up until now I had been using WS FTP Pro. A fine package, but one that requires a fee for upgrades. So far the only features missing from the FileZilla FTP client are tab-browsing, simultaneous connections to different FTP servers, scripting, and remote file synchronization, But these are features that I rarely or never use and probably won't miss. Key features of the FileZilla FTP client include:

  • Ability to resume Uploads/Downloads (if the server supports it)
  • Custom Commands
  • Site Manager with folders
  • Keep Alive system
  • Timeout detection
  • Firewall support
  • SOCKS4/5 and HTTP1.1 Proxy support
  • SSL secured connections
  • SFTP support
  • Upload/Download Queue
  • Drag & Drop
  • Multi-language support
  • GSS authentication and encryption using Kerberos

  1. ok ok ok I have the information regarding this...DesignFTP allows anybody to easily create an account, add your FTP server, and then copy and paste 1 line of JavaScript code to a page on your own website to make a nice web based FTP client application . No need to download and install the desktop based FTP client application like FileZilla. It will easily allow your contacts and clients to upload files to your FTP server without your client’s having to download cumbersome FTP client server software. It emails the account user that the file has been received and even has an option to redirect the user after the upload is received. ..now what you say ??
