Ohio's Ashtabula County Covered Bridges
The Ashtabula County Covered Bridge Festival in Jefferson, Ohio is a great October event.
It not only shows off our county's 16 beautiful covered bridges, but includes parades, arts and crafts demonstrations, antique car and engine displays, draft-horse pulls, delicious homemade food and a bustling farmers market.
You can pick up a brochure and take a self-guided driving tour of the bridges; you can drive through all but two of them.
Jefferson is about 57 miles northeast of Cleveland on State Highway 46. The festival is held on the Ashtabula County Fairgrounds on the second full weekend of October; that's Oct. 11-12 in 2003. Admission to the fairgrounds is $4, but the bridge tour is free.
