Butterfly Pictures

Butterflies are peaceful creatures. Nothing they do can possibly annoy anyone. It doesn't hurt that they're beautifully patterned and brightly colored.

The best way to take butterfly pictures is when one is on a flower feeding. This activity distracts them enough so that you can get close enough to fill the frame. The other trick is to make sure the cameras sensor plane is parallel to the plane of the butterfly. Only in this way can you ensure that the wings are in focus.

Although somewhat out of focus, the shot of three yellow swallowtails seems like a rare event to me.
