Social Media Marketing and Optimization: Strategies, Tactics, and Commentary
It was inevitable that marketers would step into the social media fray. Of course, only a small percentage of those marketers are achieving any level of success worth noting. Trying to sell people who are not in the buying frame of mind isn’t easy. Regardless, social media is here to stay and you can’t win if you don’t play.
I’m mostly an SEO, but the lines between SEO and social media are blurring. Using social media to bolster an SEO effort is arguably an advanced or leading edge technique. I think though that anyone who doesn’t make use of this angle will be at a greater and greater disadvantage. It’s just a matter of time before social media signals are rolled into the search engine algorithms. And the indirect benefit via an increase in links to your site is already an important benefit of social media which shouldn’t be overlooked.
I’d like to say that I’m about to reveal the secrets of social media marketing, but that would be a lie. In this section I’ll cover social media sites of interest, in many cases those that are fumbling since we can often learn from the mistakes of others.
