Countries That Legalized the Use of CBD Products

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a natural extract from the cannabis plant. It makes one of the over 100 compounds found in the plant. Scientists associate CBD products with various therapeutic benefits, such as treating different types of cancer and providing relief for pain, anxiety, and depression. The increase in the popularity of CBD products has facilitated research on its medical benefits in various countries.

Here is an outline of countries/states that have realized the medicinal value of CBD products and legalized their use.

The legality of CBD in Europe

The European Union allows the European countries to provide legislation for governing the use of CBD products. So, the tolerance of CBD products in Europe varies from one country to another. However, suppose that you are in a specific country in Europe and you are unsure of its CBD regulations. In that case, you can visit any credible CBD manufacturers’ website that serves all of Europe and ask anything about the products. The right website can highlight the regulations to you, and provide helpful advice on using the CBD product. Legalization of CBD products in most European countries depends on:

• Medical use

Some states restrict the use of CBD products to prescription only. Examples of these countries include Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, and Portugal.

• The concentration of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)

Other countries consider any CBD products legal as long as the THC concentration does not exceed 0.2%. Such countries include Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, and Hungary.

The legality of CBD products in the USA

According to federal law, any CBD product extracted from the hemp plant and contains not more than 0.3% THC is legal to be prepared and sold in the US. However, the federal government allows the states to have the final discretion on CBD products' consumption. Thus, each state has its own CBD provisions. We can use colors to describe the states:

• Green states

These are states where CBD and its products are allowed for recreational and medicinal use. Such states include Oregon, Michigan, Colorado, Vermont, Washington, Massachusetts, Maine, Washington DC, and Nevada.

• Blue states

Blue states are the ones in which medicinal CBD and CBD oils are allowed but may require a prescription. Examples of such states include Connecticut, Arizona, Delaware, Arkansas, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Hawaii, Oklahoma, and Illinois.

• Orange states

These are states where only CBD oil is allowed for medical purposes. They include Georgia, Texas, Indiana, North Carolina, and South Carolina, among others.

The legality of CBD in the Middle East and other continents

Most countries in the Middle East have no clear regulations regarding the use of CBD products. While others like Israel lead in medical research of CBD, others like Saudi Arabia execute those found in possession of CBD products. Thus, it is advisable not to carry any CBD product when visiting any of such countries unless you are well-versed with their CBD regulations.

Countries in Africa don't allow the consumption of CBD products. It's only in rare circumstances where CBD products are approved for medicinal purposes. However, the use of CBD products continues in these countries despite the restrictions.

You are now aware of different parts of the world where consumption of CBD products is allowed and where it is not. If you are unsure of CBD's rules in a certain destination country, don't carry it lest you face legal repercussions in the foreign nation.
