Toketee Falls, Oregon: The State's Most Gorgeous Waterfall
Toketee Falls in southwestern Oregon ranks among the state's most gorgeous waterfalls. Given the sheer number of falls here, that's high praise, indeed!
A 1/2-mile hike that includes some 200 steps leads to an observation area, where you can see the North Umpqua River cascade 120 feet into a pretty pool in a lovely basalt canyon. The two-tiered waterfall definitely lives up to its Chinook Native American name (pronounced “toke-tee”), which means “graceful”.
Toketee Falls is in the Umpqua National Forest on State Highway 138, roughly halfway between Roseburg on I-5 and U.S. Highway 97, and northwest of Crater Lake National Park. To reach the falls, take Highway 138 to milepost 59 and turn north onto Forest Road 34. Follow the signs; it's less than a 1/4 mile to the trailhead parking area.
