1. Flatiron Building

This triangular 22-story steel-framed structure is located at 175 Fifth Avenue, and it's one of the groundbreaking structures in the city. The building was devised by a Chicago architect, Daniel Burnham, and constructed in 1902. The purpose of the Flatiron Building was to serve as the offices for George A. Fuller Company, a contracting firm in Chicago.

At the time of its construction, it was a unique steel-framed skyscraper even though it wasn't the tallest one. Today, its triangle shape is the most exciting thing about it, and visitors love stopping by for some snaps.

2. 432 Park Avenue

If you visit Central Park, you will see this residential skyscraper, located between 56th and 57th street. In fact, 432 Park Avenue is the tallest residential building in the western hemisphere. It offers gorgeous views of the East Rivers, the Hudson, Central Park, and other iconic structures in Manhattan.

Residents of this building have access to some of the best features, including a private restaurant and an outdoor garden.

3. The Chrysler Building

The Empire State Building might be the tallest in the city, but the Chrysler Building bags the beauty crown. At one time, it was the first human-made structure to be taller than 1,000 feet and stayed as the tallest building in the world for 11 months before the completion of the Empire State Building. Keep in mind that the building is part of the Chrysler Center.

Nearby attractions you will see include the Empire State Building, Time Square and Rockefeller Center.

4. Lever House

If you're on an NYC bus tour with Top View Sightseeing for instance, then the Lever House is a must-see building. The construction of this building began in 1951 and was one of the first glass International style buildings in the country. You'll find the Lever House at 390 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.

The facade of the building is made of blue-green glass and stainless steel mullions. It gives a fantastic sight to the eye.

5. The Met Breuer

This building is an excellent example of the fusion of art and architecture. The resulting structure is a monumental building that appeals just about every eye. The Met Breuer is a museum of contemporary and modern art.

You can visit the museum for exhibitions, performances, and education activities.  There an additional space that the public can visit and explore 20th and 21st-century art pieces. The building is located at Madison Avenue and 75th Street.

6. Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is a piece of architectural design that's quite inspiring. Designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright, this building is located at 1071 Fifth Avenue, and it was completed in 1959. It has organic curves that tend to appeal visitors and art lovers alike. It's simply unique to its style.

Inside the building, there is an open atrium and it features one continuous floor with ramps. It's something worth touring if you love art and architecture.

7. The Metropolitan Museum of Art

One great thing about this museum is that it's the largest in the U.S. The extensive collection of artworks in this museum will make it somewhat impossible for one to appreciate its magnificent architecture. Needless to say, the architectural design itself serves as a seamless complement to its art collection.

For example, the two staircases at the Victorian Gothic site were renovated in 1995 to complement the Medieval Art and European paintings galleries.
