Why Renting an RV Is Better than Buying New

Buying an RV can be an overwhelming experience. There's so much to research, understand, and ask. Spending countless hours on RVTrader will only keep you sane for so long. And while browsing RVs in person at a dealership can help narrow your purchase, it won't show you what it's like to actually sleep, shower, and cook in your dream motorhome.

Average owners use their RVs very infrequently. If one buys a new RV, making payments over several years, and were to figure out the actual cost per hour of use, from a dollars and cents standpoint, it is almost never cheaper to buy new than to rent. Once you start to add in depreciation and upkeep, most new buyers would have been many dollars ahead to rent rather than buy.

Below are a few reasons why renting an RV is better than buying a new RV.

1. RVs can be intimidating. You are literally driving a moving home down the highway. If you purchase an RV, you will likely have an orientation on how everything works. Trying to learn it all at once is overwhelming. Renting an RV gives you a chance to understand the systems and how things work before you buy. Knowledge is power. Instead of learning about the difference between 30 amp and 50 amp power after you blow your breakers, you can know these beforehand.

2. Driving an RV before you buy one will keep you from assuming that your 40 ft. motorhome will drive just like your minivan. With RV Rental Calgary Canada you'll be on your way to experience your adventure at your own pace, in the comfort of the perfect RV. Like when learning any other new skill, practice makes perfect. Find an empty parking lot (the bigger, the better!) and practice driving. Focus on turns, parallel parking, K-turns, perpendicular parking, and other tricky driving maneuvers.

3. If you don't know exactly what you need in an RV, it could end up costing you quite a bit (financially and emotionally). There are plenty of RVers who have traded in or had to sell their unit because it wasn't what they thought it would be. Your RV is going to be your home away from home.  You don't want to be unhappy in your RV because you found out too late that your air conditioning sounds like a hurricane.

Remember to always be safe and smart out there, and have fun on your adventures, no matter where they take you!
