Hiking, Fishing, and Boating at Niobrara State Park, Nebraska

While traveling in our RV along the Missouri River in northeastern Nebraska, we took the advice of a friend and camped at Niobrara State Park, near where Lewis and Clark made camp during their epic trek.

Our friend was right — this is truly a lovely place. Situated among rolling hills at the confluence of the Missouri and Niobrara Rivers, the park provides everything an outdoor lover could want: 14 miles of hiking trails, fishing, swimming, boat ramps, horseback riding and wildlife viewing.

The park lies between the Missouri River and the intersection of State Highways 12 and 14, just northwest of the town of Niobrara. It includes 119 campsites — 69 with electrical hookups and 50 without, plus 19 housekeeping cabins ($80 to $90 a night), restrooms and showers, drinking water and a dump station.
