PaSu Farm, Alberta: Fine-Dining in What Was a Barn

In west-central Alberta's cattle country, we found PaSu Farm, a sheep farm featuring fine dining in an unusual barn-turned-restaurant.

Owners Patrick and Sue Crocquet de Rosemond, who hail from South Africa, serve a sumptuous Sunday buffet. Along with the freshest lamb around, it also featured chicken, roast beef and seafood.

For dessert, we were torn between lemon mousse cheesecake, chocolate cream puffs, apple pie and more. We solved the dilemma by enjoying a little of each!

After we finished eating, Patrick and his cockatoo, “Peaches”, visited our table. Later, we admired sweaters, fleece slippers and other gifts in the farm's boutique.

PaSu Farm is about 35 miles north of Calgary, which is at the junction of Highway 2 and Trans-Canada Highway 1. From Calgary, head north on Highway 2 for 22 miles. At the Carstairs exit, take Highway 580 west for about 8 miles to Range Road 2.3. Go south for about 2 miles–the farm is on your left.

The restaurant is open from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Seating for Sunday brunch is from noon to 1 p.m. The restaurant offers dinners at 6 p.m. on Saturdays from April through December. We strongly recommend making reservations.
