The St Regis, New York
There is a saying that money does not buy you class but if you want to pay for the classiest hotel in the US then you will want to book a reservation at The St Regis in New York as soon as possible. The hotel is located just one block away from the Museum of Modern Art and is slap bang in the middle of the city that never sleeps so you do not have to worry about missing out on anything during your stay.
It is a five star, AAA five-diamond luxury hotel in the middle of Manhattan and is just a short walk from the serenity of Central Park. The hotel has been open since 1904 and is covered in history. It has over 20 floors with 171 rooms available to stay in. It was recently renovated in 2013 for approximately $90 million. Previous guests at the hotel have included the likes of The Beatles singer John Lennon, artist Salvador Dali, and movie director Alfred Hitchcock. The architecture of the building is elegant whilst also staying true to the history of the Manhattan sky-line. It is also alleged that in 1934, the first ever Blood Mary drink was created by bar tender Fernand Petiot.
The Hay-Adams, Washington DC
If you want to find one of the most famously luxurious hotels in the US then you must travel to the capital city where you will discover The Hay-Adams located on 800 16th Street NW with Lafayette Square positioned just over the road. It was first opened back in 1924 and boasts 145 rooms with 20 suites. Such is the level of elegance of the hotel that its slogan for customers is “Where nothing is overlooked but the White House”. It earned its name having been built on the land that was once owned and lived on by former US Secretary of State John Hay and novelist Henry Adams.
Such is the outstanding reputation of this hotel that when Barack Obama was first inaugurated as President of the United States, his guest residence at Blair House was occupied so he and his family stayed at The Hay-Adams for a period of two weeks. The hotel has become synonymous with ghost stories and is rumoured to be haunted by the lover of Adams who is believed to have committed suicide back in 1885 on the site of the hotel before it was built.
Palazzo Resort Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas
It would not be a most glamorous hotels in the US list without taking at least one visit to the Las Vegas Strip and the Palazzo Resort Hotel and Casino is the venue that takes us to Sin City. Opened in 2007, it is one of the more recent additions to America's most luxurious hotels landscape and offers an exuberant taste of life in Vegas for those that can enjoy wealth and class. It has a staggering 3,068 rooms and spans across 105,000 square feet of gaming space. Due to its location in the state of Nevada, guests can benefit from enjoying some casino gaming on their mobile devices to get some practice on the slot machines in before they hit the casino floor.
The full cost of construction for this hotel is estimated at $1.8 billion and the prestige that welcomes guests is immediately visible with guests seeing a 60-foot glass dome with two-storey fountains above their heads as they enter the hotel. The Palazzo is also the largest LEED certified building in the US showing that the owners are also thinking about the environment as well as the profits. The Las Vegas Car Museum and Grand Canal Shoppes are also huge attractions within the Palazzo that are not to be missed.
Auberge du Soleil, Napa Valley
This unique restaurant hotel was initially established back in 1983 as the Auberge restaurant. Little did its owners know that its popularity would prove so great that it would need to convert into operating as a hotel to accommodate all the guests that wished to visit the restaurant and try the glorious food on offer from original chef Masataka Kobayashi.
Both the restaurant and the hotel had its interior designed by the celebrated US designer Michael Taylor and it is frequently ranked as one of the top five hotel resorts in the US. Its position in Rutherford, California makes it a hot spot for both locals and tourists with visitors keen to sample some of the delicious cuisine that is still on offer to this day.
