Play with your pooch 

It is important to take the time to play with your dog because dogs require physical activity and social interaction just like humans. Taking your dog for a walk should be a daily occurrence as it is recommended that dogs get outside at least once a day when the weather permits. When you play with your pooch it is important to consider the weather. It is especially important when the hot rays of the summer sun is beating down on your furry friend. Remember that most dogs have a long coat of hair that helps protect them and keep them warm, but in the hot sun they can easily overheat. Dogs will often require water when playing in the sun and will tire quickly. You will be able to tell when your dog needs a drink  as they will stop playing and begin to pant with their tongues hanging out. Dogs do this as a way to cool down when they are too hot. It is important to make sure you bring water that your dog can have when you arrange a playdate with your pooch. One thing to watch out for is that some dogs love playing outside and running around so much that they will not stop when they are exhausted or thirsty, so it is up to you to keep an eye out for when your dog needs to take a break. 

Train Your Dog

Just like humans, dogs can learn how to behave appropriately in different situations. You will want to make sure your dog is trained or that you are willing to put the time in to train your dog while it is still a puppy. Ever hear the term “you can't teach an old dog new tricks”? If you wait until the dog gets older it may be hard for the dog to catch on and it may take longer time to train.  When you train your dog you will want to practice a simulation of someone knocking on your door and training your dog to act appropriately.
