How to Take Way Better Photos with your Phone Camera

If you know that the photos that you are taking with your phone just aren’t as good as they could be, then you have nothing to worry about. With this guide, you can be sure to take way better photos without having to invest in expensive equipment or a quality setup.

Use Gridlines
One of the easiest and best ways for you to try and improve your mobile phone photos would be for you to try and turn on the gridlines for your camera. The great thing about doing this is that you will be able to superimpose some lines on your camera that is all based on the rules of thirds. This is a photographic composition that will give you 9 boxes in total. If you place the subject of the photo along the lines or on the intersections, then your photo will be way more balanced, and it will also give your viewers the chance to see it way more naturally. If you have an iPhone, simply go onto Settings and then choose Photos & Camera. When you have done this, you can then switch the Grid to “On”. If you have a Samsung or Android, then load up the camera app and then go to Settings. You can then see the “Gridlines” options from there. Set the Focus of the Camera
In this day and age, phone cameras can automatically focus on whatever is in the foreground of the frame, but you have to remember that not every picture that you take is going to have an obvious subject.  If you want to change where you want your lens to actually focus then you need to open up your camera app and then you need to tap the screen. This will give you the chance to sharpen the view you have. At the end of the day, it can be very difficult for you to capture a moving subject in this way, but there are a few things that you can do. You need to tap the screen so you can correct your camera’s focus, right before you snap the picture. This will help you to ensure that you are capturing the moving subject as well as possible.

Focus on One Subject
A lot of the best photos contain just a single interesting subject. When you are taking a picture of one, it’s important that you take some extra time when you are trying to set up the shot. Some photographers will say that the subject of the photo should not fill up the entire frame. They also believe that two-thirds of the photograph should be negative space, as this will help your subject to stand out even more. It’s important that you tap the smartphone screen if you can so that you can focus on your subject. When you do, you will soon find that your subject is then focused and that the lighting is more than optimised.
