3 Steps to Boost Your Dating Game

Dating is complicated. And you may be dis-enamored with dating right now. Maybe you have dated some real “duds” recently; perhaps you feel you are not attractive and appealing enough; and maybe you just don’t have any enthusiasm for getting out there again – you know, figuring out where to go, what to wear, how to be a good conversationalist, etc. It just all seems like so much work.

Take heart. You are not alone. But if you want to put that enthusiasm and pizzazz back into your dating life, here are three key steps to take.

Step One – Get Your Goals in Order
Why do you want to date? Are you looking for a permanent long-term relationship or are you looking just to have a social life and thus “play the field?” This will determine where and how you look for dates.

And once those goals are set in your mind, then you can set some goals for the types of dates you want. Do you want to just go out to dinner, movies, to dance, etc., or are you interested in outdoor activities? Maybe you like to travel and would like a companion for these excursions. It will be important that you match your dating goals and the types of dates you want to have.

Step Two – Time for a Re-Model
One of the things that makes people hesitant to date is a lack of self-confidence. Now, no one can “give” you confidence. But you can do things outwardly that can impact how you feel inside. Think about doing some of the following:

  • Get a new hairstyle. Don’t scrimp on this. Get to a good hairstylist/barber and create a new “look.”
  • Look in your closet. Could you use a new pair of shoes or boots? Given the kinds of dates you want to have, what kinds of clothing do you need for those? Maybe a new outfit or two is called for. And you don’t have to do this alone. Invite some friends over, and ask them for their opinions about what they think you should do to “spice” up your wardrobe.

Step 3 – Go Where Your Possible Dates Hang Out
There are lots of places to go to be in the company of possible dates. You can join local clubs and groups and find singles who probably have the same interests. Some cities have speed dating events that might be fun if you feel comfortable engaging strangers in short conversations and are somewhat outgoing.

You can also take a class or two in subjects that interest you. Again, you may easily find others who share your interest, and this can be a great start-point for a dating relationship.

Online dating services have been around for a long time. They grew by huge numbers during Covid when people were more isolated. And today, now that the isolation is substantially over, they have continued to flourish.

Dating apps provide a place for singles to meet up, chat, send photos and videos, and get to know each other before setting up a physical date. And if you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community, you have a safe place on these apps. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans chat features are prevalent and allow members of this community to find one another in a secure and confidential environment. Write an engaging and creative profile, add a great photo or two, and chat up some possibilities.

Get Your Dating Game On!
Take these three steps and commit to getting out there. You really have nothing to lose and a “new life” to gain.
