Phishing Statistics

Yesterday I wrote about some interest spam statistics. Today, I'm summarizing some phishing statistics from the same edition of CIO Magazine.

• There were 90 new phishing e-mails reported to the Anti-Phishing Working Group in November and December 2003.
• In September 2005, there were 13,562 phishing e-mails reported.
• 106 brands have been hijacked by phishing e-mails in September 2005. Of those 106 brands, 6 account for 80 of the phishing e-mails.
• The US hosts the most phishing web sites. In the last 18 months, no other country has ever hosted more phishing attacks than the US.
