Filter Outlook Spam
It seems the longer you have a particular e-mail address the more spam you will get. At the same time, the longer you have an e-mail address the more likely you'll want to keep it since you would otherwise have to get all your contacts to update their address books. Having attempted to get people to update their address books, I can confirm that this requires a lot of patience and time. The alternative is to find a way to deal with the onslaught of spam.
There are many anti-spam solutions available and the one you pick will largely depend on where and how you read your e-mail. I chose a while back to look for software that would filter Outlook spam since this is me primary e-mail reader I use most often. And as with most of the other tools I've written about on this site, I wanted the Outlook spam filtering software to be free.
After trying several spam filters that hook right in to Outlook, I settled on SpamBayes. Once installed, this program will start to train itself as to which e-mails are spam and which ones aren't. At first, the accuracy will be pretty bad so you'll need to manually flag e-mails yourself. But very quickly the program will approach 90% or better accuracy. Over a greater period of time, the program could approach 99% accuracy as it has for me. Plus, false-positives are very few and far between.
