Useful Information from Prolific Bloggers

LinkedIn, Anyone?

Just about every day we are given the opportunity to ask for something we want. Sometimes the prospect of asking makes us uncomfortable because we're shy or feel that we're not worthy of the thing being requested. My experience in such situations though has often been that of pleasant surprise. That is, the anxiety associated with asking for something turns out to be completely unwarranted as the giver says "no big deal" and agrees to my request.

I think it's important to develop the skill of asking whether it be for use at work, with your friends, or even in restaurants when you want an extra free loaf of bread (the bread and whipped butter at the Outback is particularly good by the way). And the more marketing and advertising related blogs I read, the more I realize that much of what people in those professions do is ask. They ask for permission to send you an e-mail, they ask for your endorsement of their product, and they ask for feedback when they think there's something to be learned. Can you imagine how ineffective these folks would be if they just sat around and waited for people to offer these things to them?

If you've explored other parts of this section of the site, you're probably developing a bit of insight into my personality. That's great and part of why I write here. Hopefully, you also agree with, find informative, or simply enjoy what I write. In which case, perhaps you would consider "connecting" with me on LinkedIn. I'm not saying you should go out and create an account, but if you already have one then 1 minute from now we could be connected with little effort from either of us. Why would you want to do this? Truth be told, there's no real immediate reason. The benefit, if any, will be down the road when one of us needs something that the other can provide. At which point the LinkedIn connection could be the quickest and easiest ways for us to connect.

Sound good? Send an invite to linkedin at mariosalexandrou dot com. Please include a link to your blog or web site in the invite so I can learn about you too. The best connections will be those where each party knows about the other. One final note, don't bother with the invite if your LinkedIn account is a dead end.

Thanks!
