What's a Blog Worth?
The BlogHerald is a popular blog. At least that's what I'm reading. I had never heard of BlogHerald before it went up for sale.
When the sale was announced there was much speculation about how much it would cost to buy. And like sales of companies, people naturally looked at revenues. Apparently the site generates $2,000 a month in ad revenue (unverified). That's a very healthy amount for a blog. Certainly not the best, but well above a large percentage of what other blogs generate. That translates in to $24,000 a year.
According to Darren Rowse over at ProBlogger, the current bid for BlogHerald is $72,000. A quick calculation indicates that the site is currently being valued at 3 times yearly earnings without accounting for any future growth. That's not a bad multiple when compared to what some companies pay for other companies. Or for what people pay for shares of other companies on the stock market.
So how much is my site worth? Well, according to the above calculations, I'm coming up with a figure of... sorry I'm not going to say. But I do clear the 5-figure mark.
