AdSense is Better
ClickZ is reporting that a new study from the Nielsen/Normal Group has found that people are "suffering" from banner blindness i.e. "Internet users focus on the content on a page and ignore the advertisements. This is especially true for bright, flashing ads, and other units that are not relevant to what the user is interested in reading."
However, the more simplistic, text-based ads are still effective in getting a user's attention. Or more specifically, according to Pernice Coyne, Group Research Director, graphical ads with text and contrasting colors are less likely to be ignored. She goes on to say that simple text ads with a recognizable logo that are relevant to the page being viewed are the best. More details about the findings are available from ClickZ's web site.
This almost sounds like a plug for Google's AdSense program which delivers context-relevant ads that are primary text-based. Score another one for Google.

I firmly agree with this post. It's just so darn annoying with all the flashing bling-blings. I usually go and leave the site right away, lol! Oh, how can I get my disabled Google adsense back.
