Not really. What this note fails to show is that you first need knowledge of the correctly spelled word before you can read the above. Try it with a friend. invent a word that he never heard or read before then spell it as above. There is no way your friend will pronounce the correct word. You need prior knowledge of a correctly spelled word.

Therefore spelling is still important (even thought I'm terrible at it
