Nobody wants to think about safety in the workplace. It's easier to pretend that our employers are watching out for us and are doing everything they possibly can to ensure our well-being. Unfortunately that's not necessarily the case whether it's because of neglect or just cutting corners.
I got into this field because it combines a lot of different skills. Writing reports isn't necessarily the most glamorous task, but after I've confirmed that my recommendations have been implemented, I feel pretty good knowing that I've helped prevent serious injuries and maybe even saved a few lives. All that without having to spend 7 years in medical school!
.So I urge you educate yourself about workplace health and safety by reading everything I've written here. I hope you can take what you learn and use it as a catalyst for change at your workplace.
