I hate to admit it, but I think I owe my love of indoor gardening to Chia Pets. Yes, I had one when I was a kid and I loved the idea of growing plants indoors where I could enjoy looking at it all the time.
I'm still involved with indoor gardening especially helping set up indoor displays at botanical gardens and the like. And I've got my own collection of indoor plants too.
You may be surprised at the variety of plants you can grow indoors. Of course, you'll have the easiest time if the plants you select are naturally adapted to the conditions of where you live. I also like that plants can be a natural extension of your home's decor. And if you're feeling adventurous, you can even change the look of a room by changing the plants -- far easier than repainting the walls every 4 months!
